just for the fun of it

....i went on to one of those love calculator thingies! i know, i know, it is so stupid, but i just had the urge!

so, also just for the fun of it, i typed a few names in and here are the results ;;

  • shannon and sam- 45 %
  • maddie and liam- 45 %
  • vincent and mylie- 85 %
  • dominique and chris- 75 %
i know it's a bit suspicious that shannon and maddie's are the same, but wohhooo can i say for vini? him and mylie are meant to be :)

and don't even talk to me about chris, the last one was just pure idiotness, i would never, ever even let me mind think about chris, and shannon knows this :)

playing dress-ups

today, i embraced my inner child (even though i am already still a child) and took out all my dress-ups. i made it my goal to create 10 realistic outfits that i could wear out and about, and that no-one would actually laugh at or gape at me.

i checked out screaming mimi's for the much loved inspiration i needed, and created an adorable outfit. ahem. by adorable i may or may not mean just completley ridiculous, but it was screaming mimi's vintage and retro that inspired me, so therefore it is ok.

anyway, yesterday i was at tilly's, looking at shane dawson on youtube, and that screaming fred guy. funnnnnnnnny as! then we had pizza and melted chocolate and mixed it in with raw oats. an interesting flavour. and there was also those vegie chips...

aren't these sunnies just perfect?!! i love them so much, i almost feel sick. 38 dollars i think. from mimi's, and i will buy them, just you watch...

omegle video chat.

i swear that omegle video chat is the most disgusting thing that i have ever witnessed in my life.

tilly and i went on it and we were utterly disturbed, like in a major way.

never ever do this unless you want to be disturbed.

:D xx

my inspiration for today....

vintage inspired puffy blouses, chinos/ironed pants, whites and pinks.

new obssession?

ugh. don't even talk to me about obsessions, i get a new one every minute! every time i pick up nylon or oyster i get obsessed over something.

But this group is so cute, you just have to admit. Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles was discovered first, by me, on a podcast (free, yes shannon, freee) on itunes, and i LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Click the link on their cd cover to listen to their songs :)

My fave is definitely 'Special Party Time for Everybody' which is a cute, folkish, rockish song that is really catchy and stays in your head for ages. I'm pretty sure i have been caught belting this on high recently....

DOWNLOAD ON YOUR 'POD: sentimental heart by she & him, special party time for everybody by lucy michelle and the velvet lapelles, searing life by laneous & the family yah.

saving francesa by Melina Marchetta

If you want to cry, laugh, smile and get completely angry, then read this book.

It's about Francesa (obviously!) and her experiences with life, friends and love. It may sound like any ordinary teenage story, but it's different. It starts off with a perfect life, she goes to Stella's, had some amazing friends there and life is good. Then, things get bad.

Her mother suffers a breakdown, she changes schools to the crowded St Sebastions in the city, and losing her friends is tough and hard for her. Each day is a struggle as she goes to school, keeps to herself and doesn't really say much.

When everything is finally revealed, will Francesa realize that she has already found love and true friendship, or would it have all slipped right past her?

I know what you think, corny, huh? But it is amazing and will stay with you forever. It's pretty thick but I read it in like three days.

natalie tran

she's pretty sick, i mean really.

apart being australian (which is cool enough as it is) she is like the most subscribed to australian on youtube. and you can see why! her videos are just like everything i am, random, wacky, and cool. she does vlogs on just totally random things such as measuring tapes, spiders, and when you're watching a dvd and it starts skipping. hil-ar-iou-s.

best of all, she does the videos all my herself, and plays ever single character. and she is so FUNNY!! Sound confusing? check her out!!!!

Love, peace and sheandhim :D

thermals

it has been so cold lately that i have been reduced to wear my thermals at night. i know. it's horrible. don't laugh at me.

Anway, take a look at these pics of miranda kerr:

Before she went all 'big shot' (in dolly magazine!)

Now she's posing for 'big men.'

this song is pretty much just the god of everything awesome, listen to it :)

my beauty test

ok, so i have decided to do something a little different, and actually do something that people can work with! So i will review something, like a song or whatever. not that i don't do that already, cos i do, but i will do it all technological so everyone can actually read it. today, i will be doing "lip balms."

Now, i'm a big fan of lip balm. i just love the nice, smooth feeling it leaves your lips and i love the sweet smells. but, sometimes, you can get some really ugly and disgusting ones. so i went out and brought some lip balms (ok, not really, i had them already...) and am going to give you the lowdown on them all:

nivea repair and protection: i am a big fan of nivea anything really, but when i bought this, for four bucks, i expected something a little, different.

FIRST IMPRESSION: Probably the coolest thing about this device is the fact that it has a little swivel tube, but besides that, not much else.
WHEN APPLIED: The actual lip balm is a little like a tube of wax, or a crayon or something. it doesn't have a pretty scent, it smells like wax. when it's on your lips, it feels like something really soft and feathery has just brushed up against it. it feels a little greasy and waxy, and it tastes funny. it makes the dryness go and leaves your lips tingling for more! (applying this is kinda addictive)

OVERALL: an alright stick, probably worth the price as it lasts a while, best used at school for quick fix.

palmers cocoa butter formula lip balm sunscreen stick: i always love the feel of palmers on my skin, so i wondered what it would be like on my lips.

FIRST IMPRESSION: can i just say, that this is really hard to open! seriously, i couldn't even open it at first! it smells really nice, like cocoa butter (obviously) and coconut. but the smell got a bit overwhelming after a while...

WHEN APPLIED: it was a bit grainy and tastes funny, but it felt nice and smooth on my lips. if you use to much though, well then there goes your taste buds. disgusting. after you smack your lips together for a bit, you notice that the greasiness goes away. visibly reduces lumps and bumps.

OVERALL: i didn't really like it, i enjoyed nivea better. best for people going to the beach because it stays on in water and you wont notice the greasiness.

body shop shea lip care stick: i love all body shop stuff, and i'm pretty sure they love me too :)

FIRST IMPRESSION: it looked cute and pretty, something that i could carry around with me. it smells delicious! like vanilla, ice cream and spices all mixed together! even though it was small and doesnt last very long, i loved the smell the most and would buy a billion of them just because of the smell!

WHEN APPLIED: very light, quick absorbed and non-greasy. it is like butter on your lips, but not as sticky or greasy. it has a sweet taste. the only problem is that is is so quick absorbing you don't have enough time to enjoy the awesomeness :(

OVERALL: i loved it! it was non-sticky, and visibly reduced cracks and bumps and made my lips smoother then ever.

did you likey?

stuck in my head

songs swirling around my head right now are ;;

she and him: in the sun
forever the sickest kids: she's a lady
B.O.B featuring Bruno Mars: nothin on you
celtic thunder: lauren and i
vivian girls: where do you run to?

books i'm flipping through ;;

saving francessa by melina marchetta
11 birthdays by wendy mass
scott pilgrim vs the universe (comic)
something more by mo johnson (girlfriend fiction)
princess bride by william goldman

why are you so obssessed with me?

ok, so by now you may have noticed that i am obsessional. i can get obsessed over pretty much anything. well, my latest and so coolest obsessions are; (thanks to nylon)

she and him: can zooey deschanel get any cooler than this? her band is a mixture of soft guitar tones and sweet vocals. I actually think that the band posters and CD covers are actually cooler than the actual band, but that is why i am called 'bizzare.'

Shop till you drop: while i was splurging in sydney, on lots of things, (shoes, clothes, hairstuff, magazines, etc) i picked up a copy of the latest STYD magazine, and i was surprised, because it's pretty damn cool. i especially love the fact that they based this issue on 'fashion for all shapes and sizes,' and that is pretty cool.

dash and will: already an old obsession, dash and will are two awesome aussie cuties who sing songs that make your heart swell, in a good way.

11 Birthdays (by Wendy Mass) if you haven't heard me going on about this book, it's because you don't know me well enough. seriously. it transformed me, it is so cute and lovely. read it today, because your mind with thank you.

so totally life info

i'm looking to change some things.

starting with me, afresh:

- don't be friends with meanies
- stand up for people
- watch less tv

there was something really annoying in my day today, and that was subscribing to nylon for 15 dollars for the whole year, with a free nylon t-shirt and make-up, and realizing that i had lost the little slips :(

ps: does anyone know any good places where they have blogger layouts?? i need i new one urgently!! not really, i just feel like a change :D

NYLON April Review

ok so i don't know if i have made this very well known, but nylon is just about the most awesome magazine. Ever.

the April issue is genuinely pretty mad, with a few awesome things that make it stand out. For this review i'll include my fave sections and the regulars ;;

COVER: the cover is simple and cute, but i love the girl on the front and her pose. i love the big bold letters and "pretty major" looks neat.

After you skip through all the ads (there is about 10 pages!) you approach the article on eds letter and the nylon fanmail, where you can find random letters of readers expressing their dying love for nylon.

FASHION: there is the usual spectrum of nylon fashion. Pure amazementness. With mysterious, quirky, funky and girly photo shoots and catwalk shots, fashion in this magazine is a must. The photography is superb and the quirky pieces make flipping through the pages heaven. There are also some awesome diy projects that will get you sewing in no time.

BEAUTY: colourful make-up and flirty fragrances bring this magazine to its tops. with pretty and glittery wintery design, plus the fact that it is the beauty issue, the beauty section really made me smile. there are about a billion fun hairstyles and new looks to try out.
CULTURE: these articles range from "modern love," an article about zoe lister-jones, a few albums to get your head in the groove (features quirky bands such as the virgins, the clash and eartha kitt) and "soul survivor" about the beautiful Erykah Badu.

EVERYTHING ELSE: an article on ashley tisdale, blah. zoe saldana, swicked (sweet and wicked)

nb; zoe saldana mentions she loves 'sex rock and roll, you have no idea.' ok, hrm.

sydney was ah-mahzing!

seriously.

it was the most fun i have had in years, i just have to say! Today we went to china town, and omg. i love it. it is like heaven, but better.

besides all the awesome asian gadgets and shopping malls and magazines and food, there was a small festival and heaps of quirky clothes stores. i tried crab and some random slice which tasted sooo good.

we went past (not into ) the APPLE store. oh my god. three levels of pure whiteness and touch screen. the best. oh and the ipad was being screened it was SO FREAKIN AWESOME!

and then there was a ferry ride, which was typically boring except when the waves crashed and you went rocking wildly....

i can't even express how pumped i am!

pigs and britney

ok, so there's a few people in the world who really make me angry.

One of them is Britney Spears. I can't stand her, at all. She is a hopeless singer and has got lost in translation in the modern world. Another one is pig-face.

She is so mean, pushing and shoving, pulling holly's hair, threatening her, i hate her. She should be dead. she is worse then a bully! shannon agrees with me, and i told mum this afternoon and she said that it was great we weren't getting involved.

pig-face reminds me of moon-face out of The Enchanted Wood, but not as cute or cool. I don't wanna be mean and say mean things about people for no reason, but this is just insane.

In reply to shannon...

this post is a really annoying and retarted one, and I am so annoyed off right now.

J is gay, i mean, i swear. And he called shannon fat (and you're NOT!) and then he totally pretended everything was normal! And it wasn't! Grrr.....i am not talking to him tomorrow, and i mean kristy is his friend but i don't see how.

Then there's this post: AWWWWWWWW......thanksyouthanksyouthanksyouthanksyouthanksyouaahhhh ok i can get a little over excited when people compliment me, cos i mean, it never happens. So she said i was beautiful, and i'm like, omg what the heck??!! But then i looked in the mirror and i'm like, she's right!!! :P

I try to have good self esteem, but sometimes it comes across as a little snobby snotty remark. So don't take it that way, because everyone is beautiful.

I believe that you shouldn't judge someone because they are not your idea of beautiful. I mean, what if your idea of beautiful is everyone elses idea of ugly? But it's not nowdays. Everyones idea of beautiful is skinny-minny, blonde, tanned, perfect. Ugly is anything that is not that.

But it's stupid. Because shannon is sooooo pretty and no-one should tell her otherwise!

Believe in your dreams and they may come true; believe in yourself and they will come true

Night night

Mr Laneous

They're called Laneous and the Family Yah, and they're music is pretty sweet. With names like, good at music and shit at life, it's so true.

Their song, Searing Life, is pretty good. And so is bubble-gum, and the film clip is so wicked! They have a quirky sound, like (anggeee) but it's more rap and hip hop then indie. They make music that gets your head pumping with sweet lyrics and mad solos. The songs stay stuck in your mind for weeks! Check them out in the above link...

angee

Angie Hart.

aka the most amazing person. Ever.

Angie is like a god, come down in woman form. Her songs are indie, rocky/a-litt-bit-of-pop. She has quirky and soul lyrics and her voice is beautiful.

Shannon made a blog!!! Follow >>>>> this blog

Apparently, when shannon was reading my blog, it was so good, she was 'inspired.' Wow, it's the first time I have ever been inspiriring, and let me tell you, I am not normally inspiriring. About as inspiriring as I get is setting an example of how not to behave. i just realized that writing inspiriring is really hard to type.

Shannon said she was stuck for ideas on what to write. I guess it's the same for me sometimes, as well. I normally write about my life, random thoughts, blah blah. But no-one wants to hear about that. So that's why I decided to create a new turn-a new lead and a new follower. I dunno, I guess. I want a make-over, sometimes I just want to wipe the slate clean I guess. Like when you're playing a ps2 game or something and you suddenly feel like starting the game again, just so you can relive it or maybe make a few changes when neccessary.

I also want a make-over of my life, my face, my body and my blog. Let's start with the first one:

My life- sort of drags on a bit. I mean i get up in the morning, have breakfast, go to school, do work, come home, listen to music, do homework, go to bed. Repeat. Sometimes I want it to be different, like maybe I'll wake up and suddenly there will be an earth-quake or something. Not really. I say things like that, like i really wanna car to hit me, and then i say not because i realize it would hurt.

My face- pretty obvious. It'll scare people off. 'Nuff said. I wish i had long straight dark brown hair, cheekbones, long eyelashes. But i'll never get it, so there's just no point moping.

My body- i can't fix, not really anyway. Unless i pay a billion-bloody dollars for liposuction or surgery or whatever. but i am kinda happy with my body. I'm beautiful.... <:0

My blog- I can fix this! Soon...it will be a total make-over, for shannon :)

Celtic Thunderrrr

So I was at my friend's shannon's house this afternoon, and it was pretty cool. We were doing ordinary stuff, like hitting each-other, dancing, eating food, being stupid. That sort of stuff.
I was actually over there to ahem...do homework, but we never did any. OK, we did a bit, but I am so gonna fail tomorrow because we have a religion assingment that I am suppossed to be doing right now, but I'm not. Did you want to know something awesome? Today in music, instead of doing work, we had our teacher play Oasis and Cyndai Lauper, and we stood up in class and sung True Colours, and it was pretty cool :)

Band of the moment:: uhmmm, definitley Celtic Thunder and Angie Hart.
Song/s of the moment:: Lauren and I by Celtic, and I'm Afraid of Fridays by Angie.
Shannon is coming to check out this blog. she better comment.....

Keith Harkin is a BABE, he's from Celtic Thunder and I love him! I will leave you with some pictures of his hottness...

xx

um just pondering buttercups?!

So it is like, freezing cold here, I am all wrapped up in my blanket and sipping warm milk with milo :)

Anyway, so in the few hours we have left until school, which I hate, I was thinking about this blog. OK, well I was thinking about this blog and how nice a huge breakfast would be....but besides that.

So I called this blog, What Real Girls Do With Their Life, and I guess that it goes with the blog itself. But because I'm a real girl, I don't normally do very exciting things. I don't have gay parents, mentally ill brothers, an axe murderer story and I have never been on a plane or met anyone famous.

I'm a pretty boring person.

So I'm just asking you, that before you follow this blog, realize a few things about me. A: I'm boring. B: I love Norah Jones and Cheryl Cole. C: I hate cherry coke.

Seriously. I mean, man, Americans have some pretty disgusting food. I mean, peanut butter and chocolate? Yum. Cherry coke-flavoured-like-marzapane? Pretty damn feral. Never have it unless you like gulping marzapane and lemonade. Not a good combo.

Anyway, one day I'll grow up and I'll realize that, hey, I'm not as ugly as I thought, or maybe the opposite. I might stare in the mirror and be like: "Man, I have a chest."

Finally.

But that's just me. I babble on a lot. So you better get used to it...<3

cat names and sugar rush

If I had a cat, I would name her Giselle. And if it was a boy, I would name it Goaty. I think they are just pretty much te cutest damn thing I have ever heard.

Tiq is a little black cat that belongs to my neighbour, and she's very, very social. She purrs and meows and kicks you and squeals at you, and then you grin and tickle her under the chin. Wouldn't you like to be a cat?

I had a little sugar rush this afternoon. Well, scratch that, I had a big sugar rush this afternoon. I had a massive burger and lots and lots of coke at Maccas and then we went to ALDI and bought about fifty billion lollies and then we ate them. By we, I mean me, myself, and I.

So I'm still on high and hoping this will last all through the boring school day tomorrow, which I am pretty much dreading.

So goodbye and love the peace in Norah Jones and Cheryl Cole, because they love you. And they live for the peace, oh man.

topics to talk about....

So I have a few random things in my head, swirling around some times. And when I'm trying to make conversation I will just burst it out, not even thinking about it, and the people will sort of stare at me in an odd way.

- "Hey, do you know that I'm going to name my kids Delta, Mandy, Lola and Nile?"
- "I'm allergic to milk....what are you allergic too?"
- "My mum is 30, how old is yours?" (don't use this...ever)
- "So um...do you like Justin Bieber?"
- "Can you do this? (insert strange bodily function)"

So as you can see, I am pretty much stuffed when it comes to making conversation. So all I can say is....just don't talk to me. Ever.

I can leave you with how damn amazing Cheryl Cole is. And Norah Jones. Love the peace people, love it, love it.

home is where the heart is

I'm sitting right now on a really long white leather couch (comfyy!!) with a really soft leopard print doona wrapped around me. A plasma screen TV is oposite me and the walls are white with few bright bold decorations. I am typing on a white flat-screened apple mac laptop which is posistioned on a bold red coffee centre table. The aroma of musk and vanilla is floating around and soft music is playing from my sleek iphone.

I'm dreaming.

I'm actually sitting on an old wooden chair on my desk with a plain old black laptop and no plasma :( I was just trying to imagine the perfect home. But really, what is the perfect home? I have always thought that the perfect home is really modern and high tec, wit lots of gadgets and glass. Some people like the tiny little cottages or the great big spooky mansions.
Anyway, enough about houses.
